Hello world,

Hopefully this is where we’re supposed to do our Blog Posts, I just joined this system today. I like the way it looks and feels so far.

I have come to realize that the way we are working on our subjects this semester is quite effective. Having to Blog Post every week forces us to think about our topics constantly. Especially if we are passionate or actually interested in our topic’s subject matter, we should be able to make connections with our thesis on a daily basis. This is therefore a great formula for a thoughtful and insightful final paper by the end of the semester.

There’s an old saying “Once you can see it, you will never be able to miss it again.” I feel a very similar way about my topic and this project as the weeks have unfolded. Whenever something happens that relates to my topic, which it has happened quite often since I’ve started writing, I immediately think to myself “not only is this a coincidence, but it is also a great opportunity for me to make a connection with my thesis and think critically about my topic.”

Since my topic deals with the unfathomable evolution of technology in today’s world and with a focus on cryptocurrency, I naturally made connections with people who are also very aware of this crazy shift in our society. Firstly, one of my favorite person’s podcast Ebon Britton said a few days ago that humans are so caught up with technology nowadays that they are loosing touch with their human feelings and emotions. Although this might seem obvious, it is frightening how true it is and to what extent technology has infiltrated our human lives. Nowadays, people get affirmations from Instagram likes! Likes have proven to stimulate dopamine, one of the main pleasure chemicals in our brains. I fear that as technology becomes more normalized, humans will forget how to feel other humans emotions in real life, and feel the need to use social media even more.

Another insight that I realized this week is that cryptocurrencies might be more highly leveraged than we can even imagine. I was introduced to a crypto-trading app by my friend who showed me these outrageous wager possibilities. It was shocking. He showed me how people are making $100 from $0.01 in less than a week! I am not exactly sure how this is possible yet. I believe there are a variety of new financial instruments that allow extreme leveraging in the cryptocurrency sector. I am eager to learn more on this subject.
